We actually got this recommended by a guest at Matateljén. I remember the guest said to book quickly, before the talk of this place hits the town. The place hadn’t really got the well known reputation it deserved. Yet. This was Easter time, just over one year ago. I was pregnant with baby August and we wanted one last trip before we would become a family of four.
I emailed Yvonne, the woman who runs La Belle Vue, and she let me know that they actually hadn’t opened for the season quite yet, but if we wanted we could come down any way. Alongside with their relatives, who would come down to celebrate the holiday.
Said and done. When we got there I really understood that this place would very soon be on every interior junkies lips. It leaves you with nothing left to wish for by a weekend get-away-spot. French, eclectic, chic, bohemian, romantic yet rustic with strong notes of elegance, but still upholds its ode to the countryside way of living. All wrapped in the coziest ambience. Did I mention the surroundings of valleys green of vines? Or the stunning terrace with a typical pool a la Mediterranean style? Not? Well, now I did.
Any how, we had the most magical days here, a lot thanks to Yvonne and Micke, who runs the place. (Even if I suffered from pregnant nausea and hence this condition could NOT drink the wine…) Yvonne is a true inspirer, both with her personality and her great taste. Bit by bit the two of them have renovated the old stone house from 1857 and each room has been curated with the finest antiques and selected items from the region. (This region happens to be known for its antiques, just saying…)
I definitely recommend everyone to treat themselves with some days off at this magic little gem. If you manage to get a room, that is. Our Matateljén local was right, La Belle Vue hadn’t reached its potential back then, which Im sure it has now, being the-place-to-travel-to and a listed hot spot by ELLE Deco!
